Martin Auditorium HyFlex Equipment Instructions

The Martin Auditorium is equipped with HyFlex equipment that allows for remote instruction and lecture capture. There are two laptops available; one located at the podium and the other located on the mobile cart.  The mobile cart also has a pan/tilt/zoom camera.

A speakerphone is located on the table and acts as a microphone. 

The following information describes how to set up the HyFlex equipment. 

Podium Laptop

  1. Turn on the laptop and mute the sound.  Log-in to Canvas, select the course, under the Zoom folder, select Start. The Zoom session will open. 
  2. Click on the microphone icon at the bottom left side of the screen to Mute the audio.
  3. Click on the camera icon at the bottom left side of the screen to Mute the video.

Cart laptop

  1. With remote, turn on the monitor. Select Source and then select HDMI 1. Turn on the laptop. Log in to Canvas. Select course, under the Zoom folder, select Start. The Zoom session will open. 
  2. In the lower-left corner of the screen, click on the up arrow next to the microphone icon.  Under Select Microphone, select Echo Cancelling Speakerphone
  3. In the lower-left corner, click on the up arrow next to the camera icon.  Under Select Video, select Aver VC520. 

Camera

  1. To navigate the camera to a different position you can pan, tilt and zoom.  To pan the camera, select the left or right directional control button near the top of the remote.  To tilt the camera, select the up or down directional control button.  To zoom in or out, select the magnifying glass (+) button or the magnifying glass (-) button. 
  2. If the camera is not responding, the incorrect camera may be selected.  To select the proper camera, press the number 1 button at the top of the remote, under Camera Select. 

 

Screen Sharing

  1. On the podium laptop, to share a screen, open the file you want to share. Select the Share Screen icon at the bottom center of the window. A window will open and select the screen with the file. 

  1. To stop sharing, select “Stop Sharing” at the top of the screen.

Whiteboard

  1. To display the whiteboard, position the whiteboard in front of the cart laptop.

Spotlight  

  1. The Spotlight feature allows the faculty to remain the featured video in the presenter mode.  In the upper right of the thumbnail of the faculty, right-click on the 3 dots (…).  Select Spotlight
