Body

Classrooms with SmartBoard interactive whiteboards include an integrated Windows computer and HDMI input for laptops, for easy access and connectivity. This guide explains how to use the SmartBoard system, connect devices, and make the most of its interactive features for instruction and presenting. 

This guide includes instructions on:

Power the SmartBoard On 

  1. Locate the power button [1] in the lower, right-hand corner of the SmartBoard.

  2. If glowing red, press the power button to turn the Smart Board on. 

Locate and Power the Computer On

  1. The wall-mounted Windows computer is located to the left of the SmartBoard display.

  2. Press the power button on the computer to turn it on.

  3. The Windows login screen will display.
  4. Use the wireless keyboard and mouse to log in to the wall-mounted computer. 

Connect a Laptop via HDMI and USB-C

  1. Locate the HDMI Cable and/or USB-C on the floor next to the SmartBoard, and connect it to the HDMI or USB-C port on your computer or computer's port adaptor.

  2. The SmartBoard will automatically switch to the HDMI/USB-C-connected laptop and display. 

Use OneNote for Digital Whiteboard

OneNote can function as a digital whiteboard, offering drawing tools, text, math conversion, and the ability to share content with others for collaboration. Users can create diagrams using various pens and highlighters, change the background to grid patterns, add rule lines, and even format text like in a word processor.

  1. To use OneNote, double-click/double-tab on the OneNote icon on the Desktop.
  2. The OneNote application will launch. 
  3. Navigate to the Draw tab [1] to utilize the Drawing Tools [2] and features.

Manually Switch Inputs

The SmartBoard should automatically switch to a laptop connected via HDMI and/or USB-C. However, if you need to manually switch inputs, please follow the steps listed below. 

  1. Swipe up from the bottom, center bezel of the SmartBoard. 
  2. An Input screen will display, as though "dragged" up from the bottom of the screen.

  3. Select the input you want to switch to via the touch screen. 

Power the SmartBoard Off

  1. Locate the power button [1] in the lower, right-hand corner of the SmartBoard. 
  2. If glowing blue, press the power button to turn the Smart Board off.
