Office 2016 gives you multiple options for opening files. Choose the one the best fits your need.

Opening a file from your departmental fileshare
Windows
- Launch your Office 365 application and choose the corresponding option from the left-hand column:
- Access 365: Open Other Files
- Excel 365: Open Other Workbooks
- PowerPoint 365: Open Other Presentations
- Publisher 365: Open Other Publications
- Word 365: Open Other Documents
- Select This PC from the list and then click on the Browse button.

- In the Explorer Window that appears, navigate to your mapped departmental fileshare and select the folder where you want to open your file from.

- Select your file and click the Open button.

Mac
- Launch your Office 365 for Mac application (Word 365, Excel 365 or PowerPoint 365) and select the Open tab.
- Select On my Mac from the second column.
- In the Finder window that appears, navigate to your mapped departmental fileshare and select the folder where you want to open your file from.
- Select your file and click the Open button.
Opening a file from your computer
Windows
- Launch your Office 365 application and choose the corresponding option from the left-hand column:
- Access 365: Open Other Files
- Excel 365: Open Other Workbooks
- PowerPoint 365: Open Other Presentations
- Publisher 365: Open Other Publications
- Word 365: Open Other Documents
- Select This PC from the list and then click on the Browse button.

- In the Explorer Window that appears, navigate to the location on your computer where you want to open your file from.

- Select your file and click the Open button.
Mac
- Launch your Office 365 for Mac application (Word 365, Excel 365 or PowerPoint 365) and select the Open tab.
- Select On my Mac from the first column.
- In the Finder window that appears, navigate to the location on your computer where you want to open your file from.
- Select your file and click the Open button.

Opening a file from OneDrive
Windows
- Launch your Office 365 application and choose the corresponding option from the left-hand column:
- Access 365: Open Other Files
- Excel 365: Open Other Workbooks
- PowerPoint 365: Open Other Presentations
- Publisher 2365: Open Other Publications
- Word 365: Open Other Documents
- Select OneDrive - Stonehill College from the list on the left. The contents of your OneDrive - Stonehill College will display on the right.

- Navigate to the file you want to open and click on it to select and open the file.

- The file will open from your OneDrive.
Mac
- Launch your Office 365 for Mac application (Word 365, Excel 365 or PowerPoint 365) and select the Open tab.
- Select OneDrive - Stonehill College from the first column.
- The contents of your OneDrive will display in the second column.
- Navigate to your file and select the Open button.
