What is SAS Studio?

SAS Studio is a web-based application for SAS that you access through your web browser. SAS Studio allows you to use the power of the SAS system, in an easy-to-use point and click interface. You can perform simple statistical analysis or get advanced with data mining and big data analysis. There is NO software to install and it will run on a Windows PC or a Mac. The application is hosted by SAS using their free SAS OnDemand for Academics platform.

The point-and-click interface makes it very easy for a new user (student or faculty) to start using SAS Studio in just a few minutes.

What Types of Analysis Can SAS Studio Do?

SAS Studio can take advantage of the very powerful SAS system, but with a no-coding interface. To see an exhaustive list of all the analysis tasks available, click here.

Commonly Asked Questions

  • Do I need to create a course for every semester and every class?
This is completely up to you.  It really depends on your preference.  Some instructors like to have students enroll in each class individually, and some prefer that their students just have to enroll once and use the same course for each class that uses SAS OnDemand.  If you use SAS Enterprise Guide or SAS Enterprise Miner for just some of your courses, it is recommended that you create a separate course for these classes.

  • How much data can instructors and students upload?
You have a 3 GB limit for shared course data (data that is accessible to all enrolled students.  You have a 5 GB limit for personal data (data that only you can see).  Students have the same 5 GB limit for personal data.

  • What computers and web browsers are compatible with SAS OnDemand?
SAS OnDemand will work on Windows and macOS.  SAS recommends using Google Chrome.  Microsoft Edge can also be used on Windows computers and Mozilla Firefox can be used on macOS computers.  It is not advised to use Apple Safari or Microsoft Internet Explorer.
