Copy Course Templates from the Canvas Commons

As part of our Canvas implementation, we have configured a template to help give you a starting point as you build your courses. You can edit and remove anything that you are not interested in using in your course.  In order to avoid duplication, new courses do not have the template applied.  The template was applied to all migrated courses from Canvas; and if you copy content from a migrated course, it will also copy the template into the current course.

We also have a template that is geared for those teaching an online course.

If you are not planning on copying a previous course-perhaps it is a brand new course or you'd just like to start fresh-but would like to have the template applied, you can import the template from the Canvas Commons.

  1. From your course home page click the Import from Commons button.

  2. The template should be one of the first results shown in the Commons list.  If not, click the Filter button and toggle Only Stonehill College Approved Resources to on.
  3. Click the Stonehill Standard Template or the Stonehill Online Course Template.
  4. Click the Import/Download button.

  5. Put a check in the box next to the course you want to import into and click the Import into Course button.
  6. It will take a few minutes for the content to be copied.  Refresh your course and verify the template has been applied.
