TurnItIn

Turnitin is a 3rd-party tool that can help ensure originality, Academic integrity, and proper citation by comparing student submissions to a global database and a repository of Stonehill submissions.  Students submit to a Turnitin assignment and a Similarity Report is created, detailing the comparison.  The report will show a "score" that is a percentage of the submission's content that matches with Turnitin's databases.  The similarity report now also contains an AI writing report.  View Turnitn's FAQ for more info.

Within Canvas, there are two ways to utilize Turnitin with assignments:

  • Integrated into a Canvas Assignment.  Those that wish to utilize Canvas Rubrics, Speedgrader, or had been using SafeAssign in Canvas, should use this method.
  • An LTI 1.3 tool that launches the Turnitin Feedback Studio.  Grading and similarity checking are done outside of the Canvas Gradebook.  Those that have been using Turnitin for will be used to this method.

Turnitin has a comparison of the integrations hereNote: the LTI 1.1 tool on the comparison page can be ignored.
