Extron Control Panel Instructions

The Extron Control Panel controls the following in the classroom:

Turn the Video Projector On

  1. Press and release the ON button [1] under the DISPLAY heading on the Extron control panel.

    • If the room has an electric drop-down screen, the screen comes down from the ceiling, and the button lights will flash while the projector warms up - this is normal.​​​​​​
       
  2. Wait 45 seconds while the projector is warming up. 
    • PLEASE NOTE: Do not press any buttons on the panel until the ON button stops blinking and the projector is fully warmed up.

  3. The video projector will display the contents of the selected source on the screen.

Control Inputs

Display the Instructors PC

To display the screen from the instructor's PC on the podium, please:

  1. Turn on the desktop computer located on the podium.
  2. Press and release the PC button [1] on the Extron control panel to project the image from the instructor's PC to the video projection screen.

  3. So long as the video projector is turned on, the image from the instructor PC on the podium will display on the screen. 

Display the Instructor's Laptop (HDMI)

  1. Connect your laptop to the HDMI cable [1] on the podium and turn on your laptop.

  2. Press and release the LAPTOP HDMI button [2] on the Extron control panel to project the image from the instructor's laptop to the video projection screen.

  3. So long as the video projector is turned on, the image from the laptop HDMI connection on the podium will display on the screen. 

Display the Instructor's Laptop (VGA)

  1. Connect your laptop to the VGA cable [1], if available, on the podium and turn on your laptop.

  2. Press and release the LAPTOP VGA button [2] on the Extron control panel to project the image from the instructor's laptop to the video projection screen.

  3. So long as the video projector is turned on, the image from the laptop VGA connection on the podium will display on the screen. 

 

Display the Document Camera

  1. Press the Document Camera's power button [1] to turn it on.

  2. Press and release the DOC CAM button [2] on the Extron control panel to project the image from the instructor's laptop to the video projection screen.

  3. So long as the video projector is turned on, the image from the Document Camera connection on the podium will display on the screen.

Control Room Volume

  1. Volume is controlled using the Volume control knob [1].

  2. Turn the control knob to the left to lower the volume and the number of illuminated dots.
     
  3. Turn the control knob to the right to raise the volume and the number of illuminated dots.
     
  4. Please note: The computer's sound and application sound (such as YouTube in a web browser) must also be on and raised.

Troubleshooting Laptop Mirroring

If you don't get a picture on both your laptop and the projector screen:

  • Windows - Press the following laptop keys simultaneously, and then select the projection option you want:  
  • Mac OS X - navigate to System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement and then check off Mirror Displays.

Turn the Video Projector Off

  1. Press and release the OFF button [1] under the DISPLAY heading on the Extron control panel.

  2. The display screen will roll up, and the OFF button light will flash while the projector cools down. 

  3. PLEASE NOTE: You cannot restart the system until the projector cools down (and the OFF light stops flashing). This will take approximately 2 minutes.
