JMP Student Edition

JMP is an academic software that is used for exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and graphical representation of data. This article details how to install JMP on your personal devices for both Windows and MacOS users.

Prerequisites - A JMP account will need to be created. You will need to create this using your username@stonehill.edu email address.

The account creation CANNOT be completed within the software and must be completed through the JMP Student Portal

How to access JMP Student Edition

The following instructions will install the required files on your computer to use JMP. The sign-up and verification procedure only needs to be performed once and can then be used to login to the software installed on any of your devices.

Download installer

To install JMP you will need to validate your account online and then run the application if this is a classroom or lab machine. If this is your work or personal computer, you will need to install from JMP’s website.

Step 1 - Log in to JMP Student Portal

Go to https://www.jmp.com/student and click the “Get JMP for free!” button. Then, scroll down and click the "Get started at My JMP".

Enter your username@stonehill.edu and click "Sign In." If you haven’t created an account before, you’ll be prompted to enter your First and Last name, and then click "Sign Up." (This MUST be your College email address to continue)

Step 2 - Authenticate and validate your college connection

Once you sign up, you will receive an email with a verification code required to proceed with the account creation. Your account is not activated until this code has been entered. Click verify.

Terms of use may pop up, you must accept these terms to continue. You will then be redirected to an information form, select your affiliation and fill out the required sections and select next.

Now you will begin the validation process. Click start to begin.

For the Affiliation box you will select Student or Instructor depending on your role, In the School/University box, type in Stonehill College. Enter your address, accept the terms at the bottom of the page. You will be redirected to Proxi ID and wait for an email response to appear with your verification code.

The link in the email from Proxi ID will redirect you to your affiliated login page. You will use your Stonehill College email to verify your login along with a verification code sent to your email.

You will then be redirected to a Software Downloads page. DO NOT DOWNLOAD FROM THIS PAGE UNLESS THIS IS A PERSONALLY OWNED DEVICE.

Step 4 - Download and Install JMP

Once your account is authenticated, you can now install JMP Student edition, version 18 by retrieving the  version installer for Windows or Mac operating system your device runs. 

Windows Install

Step 1 - The JMP Installer will be downloaded to your computer from the above download process. Depending upon the speed of your Internet connection, this may take a few minutes. The file will appear in your Downloads folder

Step 2 - Open the JMP Installer by double-clicking on the file. The InstallShield Wizard will launch and follow the steps to install JMP Student Edition by selecting Next, Install and then Finish when completed.



Step 3 - When you launch JMP for the first time, you’ll be prompted to activate by logging into your my JMP account via your email. A verification code will be sent to your email to be entered and proceed click verify.

Mac Install

Step 1 - The JMP Installer will be downloaded to your computer from the above download process. Depending upon the speed of your Internet connection, this may take a few minutes. The file will appear in your Downloads folder

Step 2 - Open the JMP Installer by double-clicking on the file and the JMP-Installer window will open. To begin the installation process, double-click on the JMP.pkg file and follow the steps to install JMP® Student Edition by selecting Continue, Install, and then Close when completed.


Step 3 - When you launch JMP for the first time, you’ll be prompted to activate by logging into your my JMP account via your email. A verification code will be sent to your email to be entered and proceed click verify.

Running JMP on College devices.

On a Windows device, in the Apps on the left side or use the search box to search for JMP. Select JMP Student edition to run the application.

On a Mac, open LaunchPad and locate JMP or use spotlight search to open JMP. Locate JMP Student edition and open the program.

Upon first launch of the software, you will be prompted to validate by entering your username@college.edu, and after entering a verification code sent to your email, JMP will then open.
