The eFax service provides the capability to send and receive fax documents over the Internet. Stonehill employees can use an individual or shared email account that is connected to a Skype for Business telephone line to send from and receive in that mailbox.
Please note that only a small number of HP multi-function devices have analog fax service to support a business or instructional need. These devices continue to support scan-to-email capabilities. Members of the Stonehill Community without e-fax access or needing to use scan-to-email capabilities may use the HP multi-function device in DU 129.
Send an eFax
- Make sure the file that you want to fax is in PDF format.
- Create an email message in your Stonehill email account or shared department account and address it to the fax number, followed by @fax.server. To send a fax to 555-555-1234 the To: field in the email message should be 5555551234@fax.server
- Attach the PDF file to the email message and click the Send button.
Receive an eFax
- Instruct the sender to send the fax to either your individual Stonehill phone number or a shared department phone number.
- The receiving phone will ring. If you hear a beep, that indicates an eFax is on the way.
- An email will arrive in the mailbox that is associated with receiving phone numbers.
- The message will be from Fax to Mail service.
- The body of the message will contain summary information about the transmission, including the date and time the fax server processed it; the phone number the fax was sent from; and the number of pages in the faxed document.
- The faxed document will be attached in PDF format.
