Getting a New Phone?

Find yourself upgrading your phone? In order to maintain access to your Stonehill account and platforms like Outlook, Microsoft 365, and Canvas you'll need to update your Authentication methods. Here are some best practices to keep you up to date when you get a new device!

Before you make the switch:

  • Add an alternate device to Authenticator
If possible, install the Microsoft Authenticator app on a secondary device (such as a tablet) before setting up your new phone. Be sure to test approving sign-ins from the alternate device before moving forward. This helps make sure you have a backup method to sign in.

If you still have your old phone:

  • Don’t wipe your old phone yet!
Use your old phone to sign in and add your new phone to your account.
  • Install Microsoft Authenticator on your new phone
Then follow the steps on how to manually set up your new phone.

After you've added your new phone:

  • Verify and remove old devices
Once your new phone is successfully set up and you've had a chance to test it, you can safely remove the old phone or any secondary device from your account.

If you no longer have your old phone:

If you’ve already erased or gotten rid of your old phone, IT will need to verify your identity to get you back into your account.
